Ever since publishing MYTHOLOGY, my writing community has helped me with the ups and downs that naturally come with putting your soul out for people to read, i.e., being an author. So this post is to express my gratitude to just some of the many people in my little writing/author community.
My critique partners, who put up with my crazy pantser technique of writing and who are beautifully honest and frank in their critiques, which is the way it needs to be (in my humble opinion): Elaine Vickers, Rosalyn Eves, Tasha Seegmiller, Joy Sterrantino, Erin Shakespear, Megan Paasch, and Keith Osmun. (And John Hansen and Mark O'Brien - you both have provided valuable critique and feedback on samples of my writing, too!)
Some of my author friends, who provide encouragement with their friendship and inspiration with their writing (in no particular order, and with their books!):
Elise Valente (author of VENDETTA and INSURRECTION)
David James (author of LIGHT OF THE MOON and THE WITCH'S CURSE)
Carey Heywood (author of A BRIDGE OF HER OWN and UNINVOLVED)
Kai Kiriyama (author of BLAZE TUESDAY AND THE CASE OF THE KNIGHT SURGEON)
Stephanie Parent (author of IN OPHELIA'S GARDEN, DEFY THE STARS, and FORTY DAYS)
Emma Hart (author of THE MAUVE LEGACY series and NEVER FORGET)
Amy Harmon (author of RUNNING BAREFOOT, SLOW DANCE IN PURGATORY, and PROM NIGHT IN PURGATORY)
Allie Brennan (author of TIGHT KNIT)
There are so many other writers out there (I chat with them on an almost daily basis on Twitter), and I meet more amazing people like this every day. We share our experiences, ideas, struggles, joys, frustrations, hopes, news, and hold each other up. I hope you all know who you are because I am truly grateful for every little interaction that we have. I would list you all here but suffice it to say that I love all of my tweeps!
Writing was fulfilling, publishing was even more so, but the part I never expected and perhaps treasure the most in all of this is knowing all of the other PEOPLE on similar journeys as me.
Wherein Helen posts about news, book releases, cover reveals, and other writerly happenings from the bookish world.
